Shanay the Doula / English speaking Doula based in berlin
Shanay’s love for women and babies began long before she became a mother or a doula. As the eldest sister and older cousin, she was surrounded by babies from a young age, instinctively stepping into nurturing roles and knowing deep within that motherhood would be part of her story. Caring for women and newborns has never simply been work — it is woven into who she is.
Now an internationally certified birth doula, Shanay’s approach to mother care is deeply from the innate wisdom of the birthing body. Her philosophy has been shaped and inspired by pioneers in physiological birth and conscious motherhood, including Michel Odent, Debra Pascali-Bonaro, and Lilliana Lamers.
Originally from a costal town south of Perth in Western Australia, Shanay has supported families across Berlin, Australia, England, and previously New York, where she further deepened her studies in childbirth and newborn education.
As a mother of three, Shanay’s own births have deeply shaped her work — from a supported home water birth with a midwife and doula, to an unplanned hospital birth, to a peaceful home birth in front of a Netflix fireplace. These lived experiences allow her to hold space for all births without judgment — honouring both the planned and the unexpected. Her postpartum journey, however, was a different story. Being far from family, she experienced firsthand how isolating and lonely the weeks and months after birth can be, and had to create her own version of support. This experience is what fulls her commitment in postpartum care — FEEING seen, supported, and less alone during this tender and transformative time.
Having supported over 170 births and more than 200 postpartum families, She offers calm reassurance, grounded presence, and PERSONALIZED guidance custom to the unique rhythm of each woman, body, baby, and family she serves
