Postpartum Doula

Postpartum doulas are there to nurture the family and support mothers during this great time of change. She is a mentor who answers your questions and provides much needed assurance in a gentle, non-judgmental way, allowing you to develop your own unique parenting style that suits you. After baby arrives transitioning into motherhood is eased by the support from continuous support. 

Postpartum care begins after the birth of your baby for a minimum of three hours per day for as many days or weeks as you choose. This could be as few as three visits or ten, it’s entirely based on the personal needs of your family.  

 

What the Postpartum Service includes:

  • Evidence based breastfeeding support: latch and positioning

  • Newborn Care: education, and soothing techniques

  • Baby Wearing: instruction with wraps, slings, 

  • Emotional and physical recovery from labor

  • Meal preparation and light housekeeping

  • Unlimited phone and email support

  • Professional referrals as needed

  • Support physical and emotional healing of the mother

  • Sleep support: struggling with sleep deprivation 

 

Postpartum Doulas DO NOT

  • Diagnose medical conditions

  • Interpret medical diagnoses or clinical results

  • Perform clinical procedures, including: taking infant’s temperature or administrating medications to infant or mother

  • “Sleep train” babies

  • Act as a housekeeper or nanny
